I like this attempt and list. 3 big criticisms:

1. Even this one seems quite Western, pro Ukrainian. (and yes, I'm with them as the victim of these attacks, but...) The Washington Post may be respectable, but the CIA bought rights from owner Bezos to help redact their foreign affairs page. Dominant news doesn't mean the best news. Especially American news, too often protects and talks from Western interests.

I do believe Russia is to blame for this invasion, but US interventions, to help push their influence Eastwards, didn't help. If we can't acknowledge our own role in the mess, we can't help solve it. Then we keep focussed on 'winning' (for access to oil and gas), not on what would best bring peace fast.

2. There are some critical thinking tips, in the article, like checking the source. The questions 'Is it true and where does it come from?' are one aspect of critical thinking. But as we see with explainers on all these news shows the second manipulation is in how one frames these facts. How are we pushed to see these 'true facts'? More tips for critical thinking about news can be found here: https://medium.com/the-gentle-revolution/dealing-with-fake-manipulative-media-b603282d9c51

3. Here's a tip from the article to give an example: All the major powers all seek to hide their own dirty laundry and expose that of the others. So watching Al Jazeera, or a major Indian or even African news channel will give you some perspectives hard to come by at home. RT may be Russian propaganda, but some dirt on the USA is actually and sadly quite correct. Like with 4% of the global population the USA has 22% of its prisoners. Prisoners mean profit for certain parties. And poor minorities are easy targets. We can understand why big US media wouldn't like to advertise these facts, and worse US politics seems less and less inclined to really solve this issue. What has this all to do with Russia's invasion? Putin isn't the only enemy here. It should be all dirty players with too much power, pushing and crushing others that stand in the way of their interests. Like remember the fake reasons for an invasion in Iraq?

And many of such players, sadly have the power to frame how we should explain the news.
