This is an awesome story of snapping out of it. That was a touching story!
Mine was never this dramatic, but I too had an inner pleaser who thought I should make my partner happy (which never works, unless there's grateful receiving of whatever is offered). And coming from so deep, to such a strong conviction is very healing (doesn't mean the suffering or practical troubles like arranging the kids is over). And, I trust, it gives freedom to focus on what is good for you, and I do agree, Kevin, living 'the world according to Kevin' can be liberating for others too. Just the fact that friends can see you smile! Good travels!
